The Garden of Eden

Exhibition design

The Exhibition, organized and hosted by the Opec Fund for international Development (Ofid), put focus on the Marshlands — known as the Garden of Eden, an astonishing landscape in Iraque that was once part of Mesopotamia and is known as the cradle of language and human civilization. Nearly extinct, the Marshlands were brought back to life thanks to the initiative of Mr Azzam Alwash, and became UNESCO World heritage in 2016. Their history and natural variety make them a unique place where the people of the Marsh Arabs now return to live again. A collection of photographs tells the story of this natural gem; divided in 4 sections, each marked with the corresponding Sumerian symbol.
